I like to blame all of my idiosynchrocies on genetics. As a family historian, this is easy to do, because somewhere in the vast arsenal of family stories and facts, lies some ancestor with the same issues. I'm short? Hey- I'm the average height for an American woman, and, moreover, you should have seen my Grandma Gerick! I talk too much? You should hear my Aunt Barbara, or, better yet, you should have known my Great Aunt Issy! Now, there was a talker. I'm too willing to share my opinion? You obviously never heard of my great-great-great-great grandfather, Johann Pfeuffer, not bowing to Prince Solms of Braunfels and not afraid to say why! I could continue, but I think you get the point. As you now understand, all of these factors are out of my control, and I cannot be held accountable for their origin.

And then there's always the nature vs. nurture debate... Is it really genetics that drives my need to tell stories, or is it the fact that I grew up with people telling stories? Either way, I was destined to be who I am. I've had good training. I can see it already- one of these years, I'll have my grandchildren gathered around me as I give them the "What? Are you kidding? You've got it good, kids. Back in my day, I had to work on a TI 99/4A, while all of my friends had Commodore 64's! Now, that's suffering!"

Family and friends who wonder how/ what I'm doing, please see my FAQs page.

I also have a personal webpage. It's mostly more links, but there are some pictures and philosophical ponderings there as well.

I want to thank my wonderful fiancee for all of his help and support.

Last but not least, I must thank all of those who tread before me. Truly, they were courageous people who had the wherewithall and fortitude to travel to a new, rugged land. And I'm glad they did!

O.K., O.K. already! Sheesh. Some silly people (who are obviously too lazy to go to my other website) have requested more recent pictures of me. What?! You don't think I still look the same as I did in the above picture? Actually, I really pretty much do, only I'm a little taller. Very little. :)

At any rate, here you go.

Me- outstanding in my field.
Sure,technically I'm sitting, but who
am I to let a perfectly good pithy saying go to waste?

Standing (l to r): Mom and Dad
Sitting (l to r): Gretchen, Anna, and me
