Rosedale, January 20th, 1863
Dear Brother:
I still am healthy and sound and hope that all of you are likewise. I cannot write you much news. We were a few times out after Yankees, but up to now have not had a battle. We will be going after them again tomorrow. The only thing I do not like here is that it rains almost constantly, which makes it very depressing.
We received eight months pay plus $40 clothing allowance. I will send you $100 and $100 in a letter to Mary. Write me soon if it has arrived. In hopes that all of you still are in good health, I remain your loving brother.
G. Daniel Pfeuffer
Give regards to Louis Henne and tell him to write me.
